Title : CLINICAL EVALUATION OF SIRISA TWAK KVATHA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TAMAKA SHWASA (BRONCHIAL ASTHMA)
Abstract : The decoction of Sirisa (Albizzia lebbeck (SIRISHA)) stem bark was found to be effective against bronchospasm induced by histaminic acid phosphate and shown to exert disodiumcromoglycate like action on mast cells. Results of clinical trials conducted with Sirisa Twak Kvatha on 19 TAMAKA SHWASA patients are reported. A considerable fall of total W.B.C. count (P more than 0.01), eosinophil count (P more than 0.001), ESR (0.01) and increase in the levels of PEFR (P less than 0.001) were observed. The effect of treatment based on the subjective and objective parameters were highly significant.
