Abstract :            Indian technologies for bulk drugs are at par and ever superior to the technologies elsewhere in the world and India has good potential to market its technological strength to a large number of countries. Export of major bulk drugs from India (menthol at the top of the list) during 1996-97, some of the major branded drugs coming off patent during 1977 -2000 (including paclitaxel), milestones in medicine (from Ayurveda to Western medicine), and shave of Ayurvedic drugs in Europe have been presented in four tables.
