Title :   PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CHANGES IN MURCHANA TAILA AND BALASVAGANDHALAKSADI TAILA ON ABHYANGA
Abstract :      MURCHANA Taila and Balasvagandhalaksadi Tail were used for Abhyanga in hemiplegia, monoplegia and paraplegia patients. Observations were made on the incubated MURCHANA Taila and Balasvagandhalaksadi Taila and collected from patients’ body after completion of ABHYANGA. The incubated MURCHANA Taila showed an increase in acid value and a new spot in the TLC. The recovered MURCHANA TAILA and Balasvagandhalaksadi Taila from the body of patients showed changes in acid value, specification value, change in the shape of visible spectrum and appearance of new spots on TLC. Results obtained indicate that the '"~-.changes taking place in MURCHANA Taila and BALASVAGANDHALAKSADI TAILA during Abhyanga may be of therapeutic importance.

Abstract :      The effects of germinated barley (YAVA) foodstuff (GBF) derived from the aleurone and scutellum fractions of germinated barley low-lignified hemicellulose were examined in Sprague-Dawley rats with constipation induced by Loperamide by addition to the diet (2 mg/kg body weight). Bowel movements were higher in the GBF-fed rats than in the cellulose-fed rats used as control. Fecal water content was also higher in the GBF-fed rats. The concentration of short chain fatty acids in cecal content, especially butyrate, was signi...

The total phenolic content, determined according to the Folin-Ciocalteu method, varied from 169 to 10548 mg/100 g of dry product. Antioxidant activity of methanolic extract evaluated according to the beta-carotene bleaching method expressed as AOX (deltalog A170/min), AA (percent inhibition relative to control), OR...
