Title :  HPTLC METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF PHYLLANTHIN IN PHYLLANTHUS AMARUS AND ITS MARKET POLYHERBAL FORMULATIONS
Abstract :        A precise, simple and reproducible HPTLC method for the determination of phyllanthin in Phyllanthus amarus and its market polyherbal formulations was developed using tolueneethylacetate (4:2 V/V) as mobile phase and scanned at 280 nm. The sensitivity found for HPTLC was 50 ng and linearity was observed in the range of 200-10000 ng. The leaf contain maximum amount of phyllanthin (0.5449 percent) followed by herb (0.485 percent), stem (0.013 percent) and root (0.0049 percent). The market formulations were evaluated for the percent of phyllanthin on the basis of 0.485 percent of phyllanthin in herb.

Guggulipid (gum of Commiphora mukul (GUGGULU)) therapy, significantly (p less than 0.001) reduced the mean serum cholesterol level. Allicin treatment significantly reduced the mean serum cholesterol level. The serum cholesterol value was reduced d...

Abstract :      The effects of germinated barley (YAVA) foodstuff (GBF) derived from the aleurone and scutellum fractions of germinated barley low-lignified hemicellulose were examined in Sprague-Dawley rats with constipation induced by Loperamide by addition to the diet (2 mg/kg body weight). Bowel movements were higher in the GBF-fed rats than in the cellulose-fed rats used as control. Fecal water content was also higher in the GBF-fed rats. The concentration of short chain fatty acids in cecal content, especially butyrate, was signi...
