Abstract : The effect of a few composite Ayurvedic preparations and a leaf decoction in reducing CC14 induced hepatic injury was studied in albino rats. Drug administration for 10 days could significantly reduce the elevated enzyme levels as well as reduce the wet liver weight. Various drugs tried were effective to varying degrees. Maximum reduction in serum and liver enzyme levels as well as serum bilirubin was brought about by PATOLAKATUROHINYADI ARKAM indicating its superiority over the other drugs and its potential for further exploitation in the treatment of hepatocellular damage.
