Title : DRUG MATERIALS OF HIMALAYAN ORIGIN
Abstract : A variety of herbal shrubs and trees grow under the environment of great Himalayas. Seven out of top ten medicinal plants of the world have their origin in the Himalayas. Statistical data show that a total turnover of Indian herbal drugs in 1997 was of the order of Rs.2300 crores, which is expected to increase to Rs.4000 crores by the end of this century. The export of herbal drugs in 1997 was only of the tune of Rs.255 crores, which implies the people of greater utility of drug material within the country. The present status and future strategies of some important medicinal plants of the world are discussed
