Title : ANCIENT APPROACHES TO QUALITY AND GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES FOR AYURVEDIC MEDICINES : AN OVERVIEW
Abstract : Ancient Ayurvedic and medieval literature suggests that quality and manufacturing systems have been an integral part of ancient concepts related to pharmaceutics. While the industry is standing at a threshold of new initiatives in this direction, various citations spread in Ayurvedic literature related to quality and manufacturing practices for Ayurvedic formulations. This may help the industry to go a long way to maintain the fundamental spirit of Ayurveda, while changing the systems in time with modern technological advancements. The presentation shall review some of these concepts and suggest their practical applications in terms of modern good manufacturing requirements.
