Title : HYPOCHOLESTEROLAEMIC ACTION OF THREE GUGGULU (COMMIPHORA MUKUL) PREPARATIONS - A COMPARATIVE STUDY.
Abstract : A comparative study of the hypocholesterolaemic effect of three guggulu preparations, viz. Kaisora guggulu, Yogaraja guggulu and Navaka guggulu on albino rats is given. The minimum effective dose of the guggulu preparations is 1 g/kg.b.w. of rats bringing about significant reduction in serum and liver cholesterol levels. Among the three preparations, Kaisora guggulu seems to have greater hypocholesterolaemic and antiobese action compared with the other two drug preparations.
